Allstate Insurance has created a public awareness campaign, "X the TXT: Thumbs Up to the Safest Holiday Ever!", to encourage teens and their families to not text while driving.  To spread the word, Allstate has turned to Facebook, using the "Cause" application to promote this safety campaign.

When a person clicks "join", Allstate takes that as his or her 'virtual pledge' to prevent distracted driving by not texting behind the wheel.  Seems simple, right?  It's a great cause, and supported by celebrities like Jordin Sparks and Meredith Vieira.  But Allstate have added a bonus - for every person who makes that pledge, Allstate will donate money to National Organizations for Youth Safety (NOYS).

The "Thumbs Up to the Safest Holiday Ever!"  Cause page reads:

By joining this cause, you’re pledging not to text and drive and helping to save lives. For each pledge received, Allstate will donate $1 to NOYS for teen safe driving efforts.

is one insurance company that is putting its money where its mouth is.  So far, the campaign has raised over $8,000, and Allstate has committed to donating as much as $25,000.  There are only 30 days left to join the cause, however, so go now to give safer driving your thumbs up!
